If you are looking for a special exhibition, we would recommend you to visit the Deutschen Museum. Here is all about technology and science. The numerous collections cover many different topics and offer an overview ranging from the Stone Age to the present. Each exhibition presents a diversity on subjects to keep you busy the whole day.
Highlight for technology enthusiasts: the German Museum
The German Museum is located in the heart of Munich on the Museum Island. Even from far away you will recognise its landmark, the tower. In there is a modern weather station located. Although the German Museum primarily covers science and technology, the tower has room for "real" work of art: A whole gallery of paintings showing the different technical developments from many centuries.
Technical milestones from the Stone Age to modern times
The German Museum offers about 50 exhibitions that deal primarily with the natural sciences. Admire the many exhibits spread over six floors. Many different experiments invite the visitor to get involved or to test their senses. In the simulation of the Spanish Altamira cave you have an opportunity to see copies of ceiling paintings from the Stone Age. Take a look through the telescope, follow the paths on the planets, solve tricky mathematical puzzles or move through the huge model of a human body cell. Children age 3-8 years old have the opportunity to participate together with an adult to experience sound, perform laboratory tests or look at a real fire engine from the inside.
From our hotel you can reach the German Museum in just a few walking minutes; Museum Island is just 3 km away from our hotel. However, due to our central location near the main train station, you have also direct access to all public transportation.
